Overview
TANGAIL is located in central region of Bangladesh on the banks of Louhajangriver only 100 km far from Dhaka. The district’s original weavers are from Basak communities. Since the dawn of the tribe, they all were weavers, came from Sindhu basin through Murshidabad of West Bengal. Pathrail village is the center of multi-dimensional activities like traditional seed keeping system. Experience with how the hardworking locals are manufacturing sunflower oil, breaking rice with husking-pedal ‘Dheki’ by the foot, makeing puffed rice ‘Muri’ by heating sands in a pottery by throwing the grains of rice in it, composed fertilizer making & more. Muŗi, Khai& other rice items such as ”Pitha”, “Chira” are used in a wide variety of secular and religious occasions or even just munched plain. Buti weaving, village of Silversmith, cultivation of organic food along with colorful countryside is really impressive.
